Our Visit to Makoko Lagos
Makoko is a small community in Yaba Lagos. The Kids' Clean Team visited this community.The environmental conditions which they live is really bad! We spoke to some LAWMA officials who have been working there for the past 8months to our surprise we were told that there has been a remarkable improvement from what they saw 8months ago. Their major complain was that the community members don't pay their waste bills and they dispose their refuse in the canal in the middle of the night. We also went to a primary school to find out if there was a programme in place to educate the children about the need for a clean environment.

wow.that's really a bad situation hey...y won't cholera n malaria spread freely with such things.n sometimes i wonder if there is a local govt at all.i mean it's Lagos we talking about.the business center of Nigeria. they could at least spend the money coming in on giving it a good face.not just d obvious places,but d deeper places of Lagos.There is still alot of work to b done.well done.keep up the good work..
ReplyDeleteThank you! I would like to say that the Government is putting more effort than ever before. The pics of men wearing orange jumpsuits work for the Government. They have been cleaning that area for more than 9months now but because the people keep dumping their waste illegally resulted to what we see there today. Many children will suffer and die if we don't educate them and their parents! With your donation of 16dollars, 2500 naira or 10 pounds a month we can make a difference!
