THE KIDS CLEAN CLUB

An initiative of The Mental and Environmental Development Initiative (The MEDIC)

VISION
A CLEANER, HABITABLE and more UNITED world, where Children are the Purifiers and the Spear-head of the Revolution.

MISSION
To instil in every child the trait of GLOBAL CLEANLINESS, GLOBAL SAFETY and PATRIOTISM; and to reach every home, school, and religious institution through the children.

                                                                                                    ABOUT US
The Kids’ Clean Club is an initiative of The Mental and Environmental Development Initiative for Children (THE MEDIC) a non‐governmental and pro-human organization that aims at a total positive transformation and development of the child.

The club was established to raise a generation of physically, mentally and environmentally clean children across Nigeria and the World by creating awareness amongst children, about the effects of pollution and global warming, and how they can make a change in their environment.

We also go a step further to teach them about patriotism, etiquette, motivation, dignity, integrity, savings, and at the same time harness their God given talents.

The club focuses on instilling a sense of moral and environmental consciousness in children with a view to reducing environmental pollution as well as social vices which results most of the time to corruption and a decaying nation. At Kids Clean Club, we believe that by teaching children, we are contributing to nation-building. We take delight in seeing a guaranteed and ideal future in the eyes of our children, but we also reach out to like-minded adults to partner with us.
At the Club, the children learn how to plant and tend flowers and trees; sing inspirational songs; engage in environmental friendly games; and listen to inspiring stories. Flowers and trees catered for by a child become exclusively theirs.
We also have a book club that encourages the reading culture amongst children, in addition to special academic sessions they are accessible to from well-trained tutors.

To combat environmental hazards, the club recently started one of its projects - The Kids’ Garden (TKG). We have grown to become the first and only group to come up with the initiative of a Kids’ Garden in Africa. The Kids' Garden will be the most effective way to educate the kids on the importance of tree planting and a clean environment, while maintaining its recreational opportunities and structure for families in the community.

                                                                  What We Teach

Global Hand Washing Day 15th Oct 2010- Dettol representative helping a child with her hands

In Nigeria, it is a norm to pollute - some Nigerians urinate in public places, dispose used sachets and refuse in drainages and on streets without shame. Industrial companies contribute excessively to Global Warming. People exhibit little or no Integrity, dignity and respect in dealing with each other. There’s a lack of motivation to save for the future; people instead opt for quick money. There are few opportunities to harness talents. People lack social etiquettes, and above all there’s no love for the Nation.
That is why we teach the following:
1) Pollution
2) Global Warming
3) Dignity
4) Integrity
5) Motivation
6) Savings
7) Talent Optimization
8) Etiquettes
9) Patriotism
                                                                                           PATRIOTISM
Patriotism goes a very long way in shaping the mind of the citizens of any country. In its definition, it means the love for your country as well as having the power and might to be able to defend its name when the need arises. How many of us can do that for Nigeria? We want to instill this in the children at an early age. The country needs this now more than ever. Nigeria is the Giant of Africa and we have to reclaim that position. Many people want a better life, but instead of getting our hands dirty, most people will leave the country for good. A huge mess can never tidy up itself! The most important question here is “how can I contribute to my country, even if my country doesn’t fulfil her civic duties?”
Some of the things that will be taught are:
 What Is Nigeria?
 Who is a Nigerian?
 Where is it located?
How was it created?
 Countries that surround Nigeria.
 Fun facts about Nigeria.
 History of Nigeria.
Historic Leaders.
 Past Presidents.
The old and new National Anthem.
 The Nigerian Flag.
The Coat of Arms and Symbols.
 Africa: Countries and Capital.
Drawings: Map of Nigeria Map Of Africa The Coat of Arms.
Nigeria: States and Cities.

                                                    INTEGRITY

Integrity is a virtue. It’s a moral value that we must all possess and the best time to cultivate this is during the formative years. It is the total state of being truthful to God, one’s self and to our fellow humankind. Cheating, lying, backbiting and a lot more is norm and corruption has eaten deep, even into families. A good name is worth more than billions of wealth!
1. What is Integrity?
2. Who has integrity?
3. The Integrity rule.
4. How do we break the Integrity rule?
5. Keeping your promise.
6. Benefits of Integrity.

                                                                                            DIGNITY
Dignity is a state of being valuable or cherished for something that deserves honour and commitment irrespective of what it is or what it looks like. We teach the children not to look down on any person’s job or talent. The most important thing here is that he person does it with heart and soul. That is what we should respect and that respect is what gives the person dignity. There is dignity in labour. It does not matter what you do but how well you do it.
1. What is dignity?
2. How do we know when we have dignity?
3. Is dignity a gift?
4. People in our society that have dignity in labour.

                                          SAVINGS
The act of saving is an important aspect of our financial lives. Saving means putting aside something so it can be used at a later date when it is needed. No matter how little, we believe that every kobo counts. In the long run, saving money may not make you a millionaire unless it is invested wisely, but it will make you financially stable for life.

1. What is Savings?
2. Who should save?
3. Why should we save?
4. How to save
5. Tips in raising money for savings

HARNESSING TALENT
We believe at everyone has a God given talent. It is a natural gift. A special ability to do something without being stressed, bored or tired. Some people don’t know that these talents exist within them until they are face with some situations that will bring out these talents. We help discover and develop the talents in the children. We are all expected to trade with our talents.
