KIDS CLEAN CLUB COLLABORATES WITH LAWMA -WASTE FOR FOOD INITIATIVE

It was fun fun fun on Saturday the 18th of August 2012 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium Surulere Lagos. Children from various schools and organisations came together to learn and participate in the launch of the Waste for Food Initiative by the Lagos Waste Management Authority LAWMA.
The aim of the  project is to ensure the total cleanliness of the state and inculcate healthy habits in the young ones.
The Managing Director, LAWMA, Mr. Ola Oresanya, said the organisation was keen on recycling waste to reduce its volume at landfills and create another resource regime while pursuing the cause of cleaner Lagos.
He said, “The objective of the Waste for Food Campaign is to integrate the children and corporate organisations into the recycling process. It will encourage children and members of the public to sort waste from source.
“The project will also encourage communities to be actively involved in segregating their waste as the burden of managing waste cannot be left for the government alone.”
Oresanya also  said waste nylon sachets are purchased at N30 per kilogramme, cardboard at N5 per kilogramme and bottles at N5 per kilogramme from the public for recycling.

Members of Kids Clean Club were involved as they brought tons of recyclables to the event
and  as usual the Kids had fun, the Nation was cleaner and they did so because of their love for Nigeria!!!
Please encourage a child today!
